Ronn Astillas has more than 15 years of experience in international trade relations and public policy development. Having served as a Philippine lead trade negotiator in ASEAN services sector, he spearheaded the promotion of competitive and innovative industries to deepen the country's engagement in regional cooperation and integration. His involvement in international trade included economic negotiations through the ambit of ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, ASEAN-India Free Trade Area (FTA), ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand FTA, ASEAN-Korea FTA, and ASEAN-China FTA. He served as the inaugural Philippine lead services negotiator for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a proposed mega trade deal that will create the world's largest trading bloc, accounting for about half of the world population (3.4 billion people) and 39% of global GDP.
Mindful of the intersectionality of political realities vis-à-vis economic development, Ronn pursued a master's degree in International Political Economy at the University of Manchester in the UK as a Chevening program scholar.
He advocates for more diversity and inclusion in business, presently sitting as a member of the Executive Board of the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce and concurrently serving as its Executive Director.
